Experience

I help students improve their grades and study skills through guided reinforcement of lessons taught in the classroom. Supplemental instruction is provided via lectures, quizzes, tests, and worksheets in either a group or one-on-one setting. I specialize in elementary and high school general curricula and test prep (SSAT, ACT, SAT, and GRE). However, my true forte and specialty is in Biology and I have tutored all areas of this subject up to college and post-grad levels. I also provide college counseling and application/essay assistance to graduating high school seniors. My students have come from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and have ranged in age from seven to 50+ years old. Subjects taught in addition to the ones previously mentioned Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Math Analysis, English Literature & Composition, American History, and Spanish I - III. I have 11 years' worth of tutoring experience and am also a Biology, Chemistry, and ACT Test Prep instructor at a learning center here in Diamond Bar, California. In addition, I performed research on the nematode C. elegans for 2 years and am extremely well-versed in genetics and molecular biology. In terms of background, I graduated Summa cum Laude and valedictorian (cumulative GPA of 4.00 for all 4 years of undergrad) from Cal Poly Pomona. I also have my Master's degree in General Biology from Mississippi State University (4.0 GPA). I can tutor students both in-person and online, so convenience is something I can definitely offer to new clients.
